I am fascinated by materials. My practice has focused on ceramics, glass, metal and stone for over 25 years, creating objects which celebrate and explore the inherent behaviours, qualities and symbolism of these ancient and alchemic materials, both singularly and often in combination with one another - as individual pieces and as collections within particular spaces.
Making considered, tactile objects of an intimate scale, I explore ideas of containment, preciousness and value, often through vessel forms. More recently I have embraced the natural tensions within my chosen materials, where fluidity and softness has informed the development of more abstracted wall pieces and objects. Each piece is unique and made by hand, using traditional and experimental techniques including casting, lacquering and heat forming processes.
