I am fascinated by materials, by their inherent characteristics and symbolism, together with the historical associations and familiarity that they signify. My practice has focused on working with ceramics, glass and metal for over 20 years, creating objects which explore and celebrate the qualities of these ancient and alchemic materials, including their clarity, purity and translucency. Each piece that I make is completely unique and made by hand, using a variety of traditional techniques and heat processes.
Exploring ideas of containment, materiality and value through considered, tactile objects, I am interested to intrigue the viewer and encourage a spontaneous interaction with my work. I seek to make pieces that embrace investigation through their intimate scale, to be contemplated, held, cherished.
